I think it is a good reminder....

Sometimes we made excuses about not feeling well or being sore so we skip a workout.  Check this guide out....

It's pretty much what I follow.  Most of the time if you get out there and do it, you will feel better!!!

Bucket List

So something on my bucket list of things I want to do is a triathlon.  I've always wanted to do one.  However, I've never been a strong swimmer so I always thought it was out.  Well, you know we've been swimming to cross-train for our marathon.  I am feeling better and better about my swimming so it is on like donkey kong!!  My first triathlon is going to be February 24.  Because of the cold weather, the events are in reverse.  We will actually swim last.

Let's talk about these events....

I am obviously confident in my ability to run 3.1 miles.

I feel confident in the bike.  It's 12 miles.  Doable.  My only issue here is my bike.  People that really do triathlons get serious road bikes.  I have a Huffy.  I kid but really my bike is just a bike that I ride around with my family.  I have no plans on buying a new bike any time soon though so the Huffy will have to do.

I am becoming a better swimmer.  It's 400 yards.  Again, doable.  I am slow but slow and steady wins the race, right?

This is completely out of my comfort zone.  I am excited.  I will do it and it will be great!  I am excited!!  I'll keep you posted!!

Training and Such

Training is going so well!!  We trained very hard this week!  Our long run was 9 miles on Saturday.  After that, I taught two Jazzercise classes.  It felt great!  Sunday was our cross-training day.  We did 30 minutes on the bike and 30 minutes in the pool.  We also threw in a 5 mile run just for kicks!  ;)

We are full force into out marathon eating diet.  I am using www.myfitnesspal.com to help calculate everything.  If you haven't checked it out, you should do so ASAP.  I have it on my phone too so it's super easy to update.

My new favorite gadget is a kitchen scale.  Before I would just guess as to how much a serving was.  Now I can weigh my food so I'm more accurate in calculating my calories.

We have some races on the horizon.  Anyone want to join us?

7 miles and Jeff's Bakery

Week 2 of our training schedule called for 7 miles this morning.  I am getting anxious to log some serious miles.  7 wasn't nearly enough for me but we are trying to be smart!  After our run, we made a pit stop into Jeff's Bakery.
Now I don't know what you are thinking but we didn't buy anything for ourselves....only our families!!  Aren't you proud of us?!?!  It smelled so yummy though!!!

Are you in the 8 percent?

Did you make a New Year's resolution this year?  Is it related to fitness?  Did you know that only 8% of people actually achieve their goal?

If you did, good for you!  Now DO IT!  ;)  I'll be checking back in a couple of weeks to see if you are sticking with it!

My 2013 goal:  Spend less time on social media (Facebook) and on my phone and more time with my family.  They are growing too fast.  Time is the enemy!

My 2012 goal:  Be nicer to my husband.  I think I achieved that....most of the time!  I guess I'm in the 8%!

Now I gotta go.  I'm gonna check Facebook and go to bed!  ;)
